Line tool

We have been introduced with line tool in 3d max and things it can do. First we selected line creation tool which is located in shapes and made an outline of half of glass
and then used modifier called lathe and this was the result.

Creating glass and window frame

First we started creating glass by creating a object similar to a wall
Then opened material editor added some glossiness and reduced opacity to about 30 and changed colour of object to bright blue and applied that texture to object
And now for window frame we created two boxes and puted smaller box inside bigger box like this.
Then selected the object that will be the frame and changed standard primitives to compound objects on the right above all objects that you can create then pressed boolean  and pick operand and then just pressed on object and this is what happend

This is frame with glass inside and wood texture applyed

Adding glossiness to texture

First we had to create an object
Then I opened material editor and before applying wood texture on it I used specular highlights options.
After I was happy with highlight options I applied wood texture on the object.
With wood texture applied I created a light source by going to create and lights and used omni lights.
This is the result

street textures

First texture that I created for the 3d street project was brick wall texture.
I started with getting the outline of  bricks which I got from a photo that I took
After I got the outline of bricks I started adding shadow on gaps between bricks to give it some depth. The next step I took was creating stone texture using techniques that I learned from stone texture demo which can be found here http://designmethodsed.blogspot.com/2011/09/textures.html .
After finishing stone texture I placed it on top of stone wall and decreased opacity and also deleted parts of stone texture so you could see the gaps between the bricks.

Research and idea development for street

I started my research for upcoming 3d street project. Started my research by going on Google maps street view. There I was looking at difference between streets all over the worlds biggest capitals.

Oslo
Cape Town
Washington

London

Roma

Sydney

Tokyo

After looking at streets for quite a while decided to create a street with two different styles of houses. One side of street would be similar to houses in Cape Town photo and the other would look something like Oslo street.

Street photos

We took out cameras from college store and went to take pictures of street components like walls, pavement, windows, doors and whole buildings.  We did that to research for upcoming 3d street project.

I took this photo of road because it has several types of road in one place and I will need that to avoid my 3d street to look repetitive. Here are different types of road and pavement:

Road made from stone bricks.
This photo is a good example of pavement connection to street and how side walk block looks like.
Pavement from ground level. I took this photo because you can see how high above road is pavement
Different kind of pavement with yellow line.

Street water drain nicely breaks street's repetitiveness.
